Domination
Getting the post up finally, after some gentle / semi-violent coercion by Simon. So this week we were up against Plus 3 Greeks, league leaders after our loss to Shuuto couple of weeks ago dropped us from the top. Well their side was more like Plus 1 Greek, as they only had the big wog dude and a whole bunch of curries, and we had as full a squad as we'd had in the last few weeks (Henghis finally made it!).
From the start our improved style of play was clear. As Quoc later put it, 'it was how we used to play'. A sudden thunderstrike goal from Simon in the opening minute or 2 put us up, and their cheersquad on the sidelines was encouraging them not to worry and get on with it.
That didn't go too well to plan. Super striker Simon punched a few more from all over the place. Damn he's quick! I can't remember exactly how many but Simon scored quite a few.
One of our best areas was D. We held really strong, double teaming when they turned away from us, and generally holding them off really well. The big wog dude was their most dangerous player, but we checked him 95% of the time, ensuing frustration on their behalf. I think Quoc's wise words from our loss the other week were well heeded. From defense we did not try and break through their brick wall. We bided our time, drew them out, then punched the ball through holes in their line. It was beautiful.
Some really good passing was seen. Simon scored most of the goals, Quoc scored a few (one of which should have been Henry's) to take the scoreline out to 6-0. Henry's 3-kick-combo -attempted-lob-over-keeper with lactic acid infused legs was a highlight. Especially the bit when he missed all 3 then Simon comes along and pounds it in the back of the net.
Derek finally hit the clean sheets. And I'm not talking about them 'mayonnaise' stains either...(k someone edit that out...). Some absolutely awesome saves today, nothing got through the man. One memorable save was a long range bomb from the wog dude which was inching towards the top of the net but Derek leapt high and punched the ball out with both hands. Also some excellent long throws to find men in open spaces in the latter half of the match saw Plus 3 keep on guessing.
Overall, probably the best match I've seen us play this since I got back. On a side note, I was totally fuxorred in the shins. Krishna's words of advice to me were, "Move your feet...". I'll consider these words when I start working on my fitness. Crudmonkey.
HOLIDAY next week so no match apparently. Week after, check the fixture 'yall.
Really clean sheet: Derek
Superstar: Simon
Most money owed: Quoc $12 (4.96% interest p.w.)
3-Hit Combo: d, d, f, HK, LK, LK (hold) - Henry

Vs Scotch
Well played today guys, 5-3 up. Both teams had no subs so fitness played a major role. I for one was stagnant most of second half, the little stint in goals definitely helped the rejuvenation process. Anyway we mixed it up quite well today. Simon was all over the place again, powering through the entire game with super power. Quoc made a few good bursts and as usual held the ball well. Henry held it together in mid and D providing some good options. Derek's run on field saw some energy pumped into the game which we were missing in the second half. We passed back a lot more, learning from last week's game and drawing their players out to create opportunities. However as the game progressed, the lack of fitness saw less runs being made into open spaces which were being covered in the first half.
Goals came from Quoc and Simon, Quoc with a thunderbolt from way out and Simon with a desperation goal out of nowhere, accompanied by the 'desperation grunt' which saw the ball slot in through the keeper's legs. Defence was a bit better but the lack of Ronaldo on their side didn't really test us. Some minor lapses in d such as the rebound of a free kick with a player not covered saw them score their 2 goals. Wasn't it 5-3 though? Yeah, 'twas. Miscommunication once again saw an accidental header from Henry go right past Derek, a sight at which the other team started celebrations. Sif, you didn't even come close to scoring foolios (however it was a mad header from henry, if only it had been on the other side of the field :P).
Overall, GG all, well played. 7.20pm next week I think so we should have Heng too. Post if you can find more players for us or if you can't make it.
